Plant Something Maine Week will be held at local Independent Garden Centers throughout Maine September 7 through September 15, 2024. You are all encouraged to take advantage of specials, get some valuable ideas for your yard, or just to say “Hi! And thanks for being here to answer our questions.

The “Plant Something” program is a nationwide program that encourages gardening to promote a sustainable environment, healthy exercise, and supporting your local economy.  Gardening is also a great family activity to promote family togetherness!  The Maine Landscape and Nursery Association (MELNA) created the Plant Something Maine program in 2016, and since then there has been a substantial increase in sales and job growth within the green industry.  Sales and job growth in Maine in the horticulture industry has outpaced national growth by nearly 3 times!

Plants help our environment by cleaning the air, and their roots hold the soil. Plant Something Maine is our local call to help both the environment and your local Independent Garden Centers, all of whom are MELNA members. Buying local helps your neighbors, provides employment locally, and just makes you feel good.
